TRY MY HEART!

Memorise: "I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." (Jer 17:10).

Read: Jeremiah 17:9-10

In Psalm 139:23-24, David asked God to search his heart and thoughts so as to lead him in His way. No other person can search your heart more than God. The heart is very deceptive. Many people have been deceived by their hearts. Many times, when the heart is cooking up evil, it tells its owner that all is well. That individual may not know the time he or she would be overtaken by evil. Do you think you know your heart? You don't! Many people have been caught, tried and sentenced for an offence their hearts had earlier assured them would bring no problem. Never trust your heart! If you are sincere with yourself, you will yield your heart to God for examination. "I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings" (Jer 17:10). Until God tries your heart, you may not realize that your good deeds have selfish motives. For instance, the reason some church leaders are involved in ministry work is because they want to be promoted. This is selfish! Where is the love of God? Just as the heart plays games with the owner, he foolishly cooperates with it. Some sisters superimpose their will over God's choice in marriage. They may tell the brother that God has not spoken to them because they are afraid if they marry such a brother, they may never come out of poverty.

To have a right heart, you must allow God to try it, test your motives and motivations. Many people will lose their rewards because they were victims of untried hearts. The choice is yours to make: you can close up your heart to God and say 'All is well', or you can open it up for God to throw in His searchlight. If you allow Him to search your heart, all the hidden things will surface. That is when you will be amazed at the grave danger your heart was taking you into. God cannot trust you with great Kingdom secrets and treasures if your heart is not tried. Keeping your heart from being tried will limit your Kingdom potentials in a very significant way. It is after your heart is tried and directed by the Holy Spirit that your desires can blend with God's. Is your heart right with God? Do you know what's in your heart? Ask God to try your heart today!

Prayer Point:

Father, try my heart today and expose every hidden thought that contradicts your will and Word.
