ACCUSING GOD?
Memorise: "In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly." (Job 1:22).
Read: Job 1:13-22
After the woman in 1 Kings 17:17-24 lost her son, she began to accuse Elijah as the murderer. She forgot that both she and her son would have died long before then, had Elijah not come. When there is a crisis, that is not the best time to speak up. Take things easy and lie low for some time before taking any step. This is because spontaneous reactions to a crisis situation will most probably be thoughtless or prone to error. This is why in the School of Disciples, it is taught that when you receive an unexpected blow which lands you on the floor during a boxing match, stay down and count up to eight before you rise up. That is a wrong time to ask questions as you most probably may not get an answer. However, the devil will push you hard and wait to hear your response, so as to use it against you. Remember that you will give account of every idle word you say at such a time. Irrespective of what happens, never accuse God falsely. Do you know that in spite of the negative events, God is good and merciful? This kind of disposition has helped me to handle several tough situations I had to go through.
Another lesson here speaks of God's nature. Despite the woman's accusation, God still went ahead and restored her son to life. This speaks of God's mercy and compassion. Psalm 103:13-14 says, "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust". This is very comforting. Sometimes, when we have made some slips like this woman, God allows what He knows about us to prevail, rather than the repercussion of our error. For instance, righteous Job also falsely accused God of killing his children in Job 1:21; yet, God overlooked his ignorance and restored him. God is no murderer. It is the devil who kills. Many believers are painting God in Satan's colours. This must stop! Any time you blame God for an unpleasant occurrence, you falsely accuse God.
Key Point:
When somebody dies young, people say: The Lord has given and the Lord has taken. That is a false accusation! The Lord gave but something else took. Mind your language!
