FAVOUR STANDS YOU OUT

Memorise: "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy" (Rom 9:16).

Read: Proverbs 3:3-4

There are conditions to satisfy in order to flourish. Going by Peter's encounter with the Lord in Luke 5:1-11, the first thing you need so as to flourish is divine favour. When the Lord got to the lake, He saw two empty boats with no names attached, He chose the one that belonged to Peter. Romans 9:16 says, "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy". This simply means that success in life is not necessarily hinged on our personal effort, plan or wisdom; a lot has to do with God's mercy. If you make all your inputs without the benefit of divine favour, you may never realize your desired end. The elders say: 'Struggling does not necessarily lead to prosperity'. You need divine favour to prosper. You need divine favour in order to flourish.

Divine favour singles you out of a crowd for the assistance you do not deserve. Sometimes, some of such favours may come to you in form of an error, yet, they will deliver you good dividends. My first trip out of Nigeria was to Canada. I was to board a Nigeria Airways plane to London and connect my flight via British Airways. The Nigeria Airways aeroplane was late so we missed the flight from London. Being my first trip outside Nigeria, I did not know what to do. However, a lady at British Airways allayed my fears, booked me into a hotel, gave me a meal voucher and showed me the bus that will take me there. I thanked her and left. As I left, I sensed that there was an argument behind me. On arrival at the airport the following morning, I discovered that of all the passengers who missed the London-Canada flight, I was the only one singled out for favour. The rest slept at the airport. This season, you shall be singled out for favour. What you do not merit shall be given to you. In your office, you shall enjoy favour. In whatever you do, you shall be favoured. Where others are shown the way out, you shall be shown the way into your blessing.

Prayer Point:
Oh Lord, let Your favour stand me out. Pray for those once heading for heaven, but are now heading for hell. What is your attitude towards backsliders around you?
